Binge Eating Treatment

 

Binge eating disorder is a disorder that is more common in most adults between the ages of mid forties to mid fifties. Although anyone can have this disorder, statistics show that it is more common in that age range. Some signs of this disorder are eating alone, eating large4 amounts of food and even purging after eating large amounts of food. For others, instead of purging, they take pills to keep from losing weight.  Some types of pills are water pills or laxatives.

In some cases persons may exercise excessively to keep the weight off after eating such a large amount of food. They eat uncontrollably to satisfy a feeling or an emotion and then proceed to working out for an hour or two. This instills that they do not gain weight from the food they just endured.

Some common signs or symptoms of this disorder are listed below.

Ø  Eating alone

Ø  Eating large amounts of food

Ø  Eating unusually fast

Ø  Going to the RR right after a meal

Ø  Consuming food until they are in pain

Ø  Feeling guilty, gross or nasty

 

A high majority of all people suffering from binge eating disorder are obese or over weight. In children or young adults, you may find that if they have this disorder they tend to stay in their room, can be anti social and some are very temperamental. Many individuals with this order don’t know how to control their emotions, so consuming large amounts of food make them feel as though they have some control. Some individuals are so disgusted with what they do, that they purge into a tub aware or another form of a box and store it in their room. This allows for them to do it privately, without their parents or siblings finding out.

This is another where not all obese individuals have this disorder, but almost all people with this disorder are obese if not over weight. Some complications and diseases that can form from binge eating disorder are:

Ø  Heart disease

Ø  Some cancers

Ø  High cholesterol

Ø  High blood pressure

Ø  Type 2 diabetes

Ø  Depression

Ø  Gallbladder disease

These are just some of the many complications you can be facing if you have this disorder. Other things can be dental cavities and loss of tooth enamel.

For treatment it is stressed greatly that you seek your nearest clinic, support group or ask your doctor for some help. It is very important to treat this disorder sooner rather than later. Therapy, drugs, and support groups are your best bet for an efficient and successful recovery.
