Darvocet is a prescription medication prescribed for patients suffering from injuries or medical conditions which produce a lot of physical pain, and it happens to be one of the most common drugs for everyday people to become addicted to. Today, drug addicts aren’t exactly what they used to be in the past. You don’t have to go into the wrong side of town and find a dealer on a street corner to become an addict anymore.
In fact, someone you love could be suffering from Davrocet addiction or addiction to some other painkiller at this very moment without you even realizing it.
In most cases, Darvocet addiction starts after a real need for effective pain management arises. This could be after a serious accident or from surgeries or other medical conditions that cause high levels of pain that most people cannot deal with without medication. While it is not as strong as some other pain medications being prescribed today, it can be just as addicting as any other drug, legal or illegal.
There is initially a legitimate need for taking the drug, but with time Darvocet addiction can set in. In many cases, the user does not realize they have gone from being legitimately dependant on the drug to suffering from a real Darvocet addiction problem, and others around them may not realize it either. This is because the typical signs of drug use often do not apply, since this is a legal drug being prescribed by a doctor for a medical purpose.
Most people do not really think they will end up with a real Davrocet addiction, considering this drug is partly made of Acetaminophen or basic Tylenol as most people refer to it today. Since Tylenol seems like a completely safe, ordinary over the counter medication, many people do not realize how addicting Darvocet can actually be. While Acetaminophen is completely safe, it is combined with another drug called Propoxyphene which is highly addictive.
The intended purpose of the drug is to relieve pain by interfering with pain receptors in the brain and stopping the production of hormones which signal pain to the brain. Yet, one of the major side effects is a grandiose sense of happiness or well being. Most users feel their mood lift, even when they have more than enough reason to not be happy at the time. Usually, it is that sensation that the user starts to crave.
In many situations, no one realizes that Darvocet addiction has become a real problem until a doctor determines that it is no longer a necessary part of the patient’s pain management program and stops the prescriptions. It is then that many users suffer severe cravings and other common withdrawal symptoms that are typical with Darvocet addiction, or any other type of addictionf for that matter.
Some people with a serious Darvocet addiction will start seeing multiple doctors, playing up their pain level so they can get more than one prescription at once or so they can get one doctor to give the prescription after another refuses to continue. This is usually the point when they will also start hiding their medication from others in their life, while before they were opening taking it.
At this point, Darvocet addiction is just as serious as crack addiction or alcoholism. It will be a long but enlightening journey to detox from the drug.
