GHB, chemically called as Gamma hydroxybutyrate is a central nervous system stimulant. A small amount of this substance comes in drugs in other forms that help a person to beat his stress and anxiety disorders. GHB is available in powdery form usually, but it also comes as a tablet or capsule and in clear liquid form. Such substances are mostly contained in drain cleaners and floor stripping solvents used at homes.

People take small amounts of GHB to get some relaxation and relief from everyday stress and panic. There are few adults who consider taking this drug that stimulates muscle growth; particularly body builders who constantly workout in a gym to get a fitter and better body.  On constant usage of this drug, there is every possibility for one to get GHB addicted and get affected with serious health related problems.

Short term usage of drugs might not necessarily make a person GHB addictive, as relaxation is produced and can also make the person relieved from stress. One must be very cautious while consuming this drug even for short term periods. Once it becomes a long term usage, the person cannot stop or prevent himself from taking this lethal drug. Respiratory depression and even coma can occur in such persons. Deaths have also been reported where some users became very highly addictive to this dreadful drug.

A person’s habitual nature, body language and lifestyle completely changes on GHB addicted. Physicians must be very watchful while prescribing any medicinal drugs that might contain even a small amount of GHB, as this might make a person completely addicted to it. Immediate treatment is required to those persons who cannot tolerate refraining from the likes of GHB. Various forms of treatment – both medically and emotionally with the expert’s opinion are available. Sedatives are given to detoxify the body and multiple relapses are still suggested even after detoxification. Proper counseling under experienced professionals is done in some cases, where they try to pour in some guidelines and suggestions to make the person change his lifestyle and behavior; thus making him stop using GHB gradually.
