Heroin is considered as the highly addictive drug. This is a derivative of the morphine, a product that has long back been obtained from the Opium poppy. This highly addictive drug is also known as “downer” or depressant that affects the pleasure system in the brain that are actually meant to feel the pain in the body. This drug interferes with the pleasure system and the brains signaling systems.
Heroin is generally found in white powder. Until unless tasted or tested it is difficult to tell whether it is a pure quality. This can be used in different ways. Heroin can be taken as an injection directly into a vein or to a muscle, smoke with a water pipe, mixed with the regular cigarette, snorted through nose and inhale through a straw.
A single dose of heroin can last for few hours. When a user takes a dose of Heroin, he feels the euphoria, accompanied by a warm skin, dry mouth and heavy extremes. When the user attains this state, he generally goes into the state of drowsiness. This mainly acts on the central nervous system, causing the blankness in the mind, making the brain to malfunction and stop responding temporarily. The other effects of Heroin addiction are droopy eyelids, impaired night vision, constricted pupils, slow gait, slow and inaudible speech.
Heroin addiction can cause severe damage to the body upon repeated usage. Failure of veins, infection in the arteries and veins in the heart lining, cellulites and liver diseases are the health issues that are related to high usage of Heroin. As said earlier, there are many categories that belong to the Heroin depending upon its quality. Street heroin is one such category which is mixed with few other additives. These additives are so harmful to the body that they do not dissolve in the blood stream and cause blood clotting. This blocks the blood stream to the lungs, brain, heart and veins causing a sudden death at moment of time. Withdrawing suddenly from such an act can also prove to be fatal to the user.
